BitPay Turns Crypto Into Dollars. Paymento Leaves It as Crypto.
BitPay sells your crypto and deposits local currency in your bank every business day, in 37 countries, once your balance clears a minimum. That suits a finance team that never wants to hold coins. Paymento does no conversion: each payment arrives in your own wallet as the coin your customer sent, and what happens next is your call.

Your Customer Never Signs Up for Anything
BitPay's help centre says a customer paying an invoice may be asked to log in to or create a BitPay account and complete BitPay ID verification, and that a payment from a wallet without Payment Protocol support must be the exact amount due or it is refunded. Paymento's checkout has no account step, and you choose how much underpayment to accept, from 0% to 5%.

The Fee Gap Grows With Every Order
Below $500,000 a month, BitPay's published rate is 2% plus 25¢ per payment. Paymento charges 0.5%, plus $0.20 on embedded wallet stores. BitPay's fee includes turning crypto into money in your bank and Paymento's does not, so add your exchange's costs if you convert.

Payment Infrastructure You Wire Into Your Own Stack
Your backend creates a payment request through the REST API and the customer pays on Paymento's hosted checkout. Your callback URL then receives the status, signed with HMAC-SHA256, and a verify endpoint lets your server confirm the payment before it releases the order. On a bring-your-own-wallet store, Paymento sees only public wallet details, never a private key.

BitPay Alternative Questions
Checkout and customers
BitPay's help centre says customers log in to or create a BitPay account to pay an invoice, and complete BitPay ID verification if they have not already. The exact flow may vary, so try a test payment yourself. Paymento customers never create an account.
According to BitPay, it is a separate fee charged to people paying in Bitcoin, covering the cost of sweeping payments from BitPay addresses. BitPay says it applies only when the estimate is above 0.01 USD.
USDT on Ethereum and Tron, and USDC on Solana. On an embedded wallet store, Ethereum and Solana stablecoins are paid by address and QR code with no wallet connection.
Fees and settlement
On published rates, Paymento's 0.5% is lower than BitPay's 2% + 25¢ below $500,000 a month. The products are not equivalent, though: BitPay's fee includes conversion and bank settlement, which Paymento does not provide.
No. You can price in USD or EUR, but you are paid in the cryptocurrency the customer sends, straight to your wallet. Converting to fiat is up to you and the exchange you use.
The payment goes to your wallet and is final once the network confirms it. Confirmation time depends on the chain and how busy it is, so Paymento does not promise a fixed time. There is no settlement schedule on top of that.
Switching
Yes. Paymento is added as its own payment option, through the WooCommerce, WHMCS or OpenCart plugin, a payment link or the API, so it can sit next to an existing gateway while you compare.
